Actress Rakhi Vijan is widely known for portraying Sweety Mathur in ‘Hum Paanch’ in 1995. It was a comedy show and her character was loved by the audience as it was quite relatable for them. The show and all the actors garnered a lot of popularity and fame through the serial. In a recent interview with ETimes, Rakhi opened up about playing Dayaben in ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.’
Speculations are rife that Rakhi will be essaying Dayaben’s character, but with her recent post on Instagram, she clarified that she is not playing the character and that she has not been approached by the makers. She said, ‘hello every1..this news is a rumor..which shocks me..I haven't been approached by the producers or the channel..’. When asked about the show, Rakhi stated, “Tell me one person who hasn't. It's as iconic as 'Hum Paanch' which I did in my younger days.”
Talking about if she is approached for playing Dayaben, will it be challenging for her, to which she replied that comedy is natural for her, yet it would be challenging but not difficult. And for the Gujju accent of the character, she’ll have to learn. She added that they are actors and have to play different characters.
When questioned about if she would like to play the character in her own way, the Hum Paanch actress was quoted saying, “I will have to take a lot of nuances from her style and include mine. I will have to do a good merger. If I do it entirely my way, it might be difficult for the audiences to relate to it.”
In one of her earlier interviews, the Dekh Bhai Dekh actress mentioned that she took a break from acting due to her “marriage break up.”
Rakhi Vijan asserted that Priti Sinha (daughter of Vinay Sinha who produced the unforgettable 'Andaz Apna Apna' and 'Six Suspects' with Ajay Devgn) is her close friend and has promised her a role in the one of the web series.
